Here you can try Chatabout's JAVA-based chat room. (You need to use a web browser that is Java enabled in order to use it. If your browser is not JAVA enabled you will not see the chat room but get a message "Please get a Java capable browser!")
Please be patient as the Java Applet loads and initializes.
I am currently testing this chat program, so feel free to e-mail me your opinion of how this operates for you.
